¡Hola!

I am Alicia (she/her – ella)

I am a Library & Information Science (LIS) educator pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Science and Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri. I am currently teaching at the University of South Florida School of Information. Previously I have been a librarian in the U.S. and a teacher in Argentina. I am fully bilingual English-Spanish, bicultural, and I live in Florida.

I research the impact of socio-cultural perspectives on higher education pedagogy, information practices, and library services. I am also interested in other topics related to academic, public, and school librarianship with an emphasis on services to diverse populations and diverse literature for youth.

Through my research and work, I seek to help break down barriers to higher education for diverse populations, help diversify the library and information studies fields, and expose educational methods that contribute to social justice.
